TELKOM NIGHT OWL; The amazing Telkom Kenya Night Data Plan.

Telkom night owl
It seems Telkom Kenya subscribers have yet another reason to smile about after the introduction of a night data plan known as the Night Owl. Those with lot's of Night time to spare can now browse and chat all night long for just Ksh.39.

What is Telkom Night Owl?

This is a new Telkom Kenya's data bundle which, for just ksh.39 gives you 5Gb data from 12 am to 6 am every day.The bundle is intentionally named after the Owl, a bird which according to Wikipedia, is nocturnal, hunting at night with some types active towards dawn.
Likewise, for you to enjoy this great offer you must be active at night, otherwise the night owl won't be of any value to you.
How to buy Telkom Night Owl.
To get this amazing offer, just dial *544# on your Telkom line or go to http://www.myaccount.telkom.co.ke/ or better still use the Telkom app.You can do this at any time of the day,but the data will be available for use as from 12 am.(midnight).
Please note that,
  • You can subscribe to the night data as many times as you want depending on the data volume that you need. For example if you need 10Gb then you can subscribe twice.
  • In case you don't exhaust all your data by 6am in the morning, the balance won't be rolled over to the next night, meaning you will lose all the remaining data by 6 in the morning.
  • The offer is only available for prepaid Telkom Kenya customers, and not available for post paid.
  • You also get to earn Ziada Points whenever you buy the night owl, unlike Safaricom  Giga bundle, which does not contribute towards your daily storo target.
  • To check balance dial *131# on your Telkom line.

Airtel Night Club
Airtel, on the other hand have a similar product, at only ksh. 20, known as Airtel Club Night.
Comparing the two plans, you can't help but wonder if there is really need for airtel club night.
Also ReadTelkom Night owl validity period extended
What are the similarities of the two plans?
Both plans are night bundles, meaning that they can only be used at night. What is even more striking is that both start at exactly midnight and end at exactly 6.A.m in the morning. That is where the similarities end,
  • Airtel club night gives you 250 Mb at ksh.20 valid for six hours.( Initially it used to be 500 mbs, but airtel slashed it to the current 250 with no clear reason to do so). That looks great, considering that if you were to buy daily data, you would get 70 Mbs for the same price.
  • Telkom Night owl on the other hand let's you enjoy 5 Gb  for Ksh.39 valid for six hours. With such an amount of data you can actually trans night, since you can stream movies or music, or do your online transactions without having to worry of data running out.
It is clear that Airtel have been beaten hands down on this and have to go back to the drawing board, if they still have to make the night club active in the Kenyan market, and must be ready to take more surprises that Telkom can throw on them.
As for me, I don't see the reason why I should sacrifice my sleep for 250 MBS and not the 5 Gb, it won't make sense.
If you still want to subscribe to airtel night club, just dial *544# , select daily bundles and go to option 6 as shown below.
