Tecno Spark 6 vs Infinix Note 7 Specs comparison. Which one should you go for?

Tecno Spark 6 Vs Infinix Note 7
Tecno Spark 6.

When Infinix launched their Note 7 in April 2020, there was a lot of online hype with many looking forward to having a hold of the device which according to Infinix was an ultimate flagship killer.
Our quick review of the note 7 revealed a number of good specs, but had serious misfortunes and we strongly advised our readers against the phone which despite a huge screen, 18 W fast charge support among others we felt it was not a true Note phone, and Infinix was throwing in a number of specs just to get away from giving us a genuine Note 7 device.
Months down the road and their sister brand have just launched a note 7 clown, the Tecno Spark 6.
In all matters appearance and specs these two devices have so much in common that it will be difficult to tell the two apart, and this will likely see their prices drop in the coming weeks.
The spark 6 is already available in Tecno key markets including India and Pakistan and is expected to launch soon in other markets including Indonesia, Nigeria and Kenya.
In this article we're going to dig deep and give you a detailed spec comparison between these two sister devices, and hopefully give you enough information to make an informed decision if at all you were planning to get one of these phones.

As you can see from the spec comparison above, both the Tecno Spark 6 and Infinix note 7 have alot in common including:
  • A similar design and look with a punch hole display, a glass front, plastic back and frame as well as a circular camera module at the back.
  • Same Mediatek Helio G70 processor.
  • Same IPS LCD display panel with similar resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels with no screen protection.
  • Same 5,000 mAh non removable Li-po battery with similar 18W charge.
While the similarities could mean similar phone performance, the Note 7 seems to have a slightly upper hand over it's Competitor with the following:
  • Slightly bigger screen of 6.95 inch compared to 6.8 inch of the spark 6.
  • Bigger 48MP primary camera over the 16MP primary camera in the spark 6.
  • Bigger memory of 6 GB RAM and 128 GB while the spark 6 is only available in one variant of 4GB and 64 GB both having an SD card slot and dual SIM.

Display.
One major critical spec that any smartphone buyer should pay attention to when looking for a new device is the display, and where's many only consider the size something Transion are fully aware of; there are more other display features that greatly influence your viewing experience.
Considering that we spend hours staring at a phones screen, you should go for a display that is vivid, crisp and good to be used both indoors and outdoors.
Pay more attention to display specs include the display resolution, the aspect ratio, Display type ,a be it IPS LCD or AMOLED as well as the pixel density. There is also the issue of brightness and the refresh ratio which are becoming a must have in recent mid-range and high end devices, as well as HDR support and screen Protection. We wrote a detailed article on how these factors affect one another and finally affect the quality of Smartphone viewing experience you will have and we strongly recommend you check it out.
  • Key Smartphone display specs you should pay attention to.
While the Spark 6 has a 6.8 inch display, the Note 7 has 6.95 inch screen. This makes the Note 7 slightly bigger, and if size is all that matters to you then the latter wins here.
Both have an IPS LCD display and it will probably take years before we see any of the brands give us an AMOLED panel at a budget level.
With the two having a similar resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels, the slightly bigger screen of the Note 7 results to a slightly lower pixel density of 258 ppi as compared to 263 ppi of the Spark 6. If you're a heavy gamer or love watching videos on your phone, then these two phones are definitely not for you.
Software comparison.
Both the Note 7 and the Spark 6 are powered by the Mediatek Helio G70, a budget gaming chipset that's gaining porpularity in the budget segment. It looks like both brands are now focused on giving us gaming processors as we saw the recently launched Camon 16 and Zero 8 both spotting a Mediatek Hellio G90 chioset which is also a gaming Chipset.
Though we have nothing to complain about  concerning the Hellio G70, it should be known that this is an entry level gaming processor and the price of any device powered by this Chipset should be at the Lowe budget spectrum.
Other phones that have so far launched with the Mediatek Helio G70 include the realme C3, realme Nazro 10A and the Infinix Hot 10. Of all the above I would go for the Hot 10, if not for the poor Infinix user interface.
Both devices run on the latest Android 10 version something which is commendable considering that the two Smartphones are 2020 devices.
While the Note 7 has the XOS 6.0 Skin, it's counterpart has the HIOS 7.0 skin.
Of late it's been quite impossible to see a Tecno or Infinix with a clean Android platform, and the XOS and HIOS means that you'll have to put up with a lot of pre-installed bloatware as well as numerous pop up ads that clutter your notification screen.
This is the major reasons why it's unlikely you will spot any of the brands in developed countries and why the smartphones are relatively cheaper.
But the amount of such bloatware and unsolicited ads is getting too much to the point that Transsion should pay more attention, and considering the huge security risks and treats that they could potentially pose to it's customers, we could see both Infinix and Tecno Smartphone sales begin to decline in the coming years as users get more and more enlighten.
The Tecno Spark 6 is only available in one variant of a 4G RAM with an option to choose between 64GB and 128GB of storage, a good improvement from it's predicessor the spark 5 which had 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.
On it's part, the Infinix Note 7 is available in two variants of 4 and 6GB storage with an option of choosing between a 64GB and 128GB internal storage. Since the Note 7 offers more storage options, then it scores another plus over the spark 6.
The Cameras.
For quite sometime now camera performance has been a major selling point for any smartphone, and while the likes of Nokia, Oppo and Huawei and other key Smartphone brands have gone all the way to bring us that perfect shoot no other rival can imagine, Tecno finally had the last laugh when they launched the Camon 16 Premier, a phone with amazing camera performance i couldn't even believe.
Back to the Spark 6 and Note 7; both have a quad camera setup with the Note 7 giving us a 48 MP primary lens, a 2 MP macro lens, another 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. On it's part, the Spark 6 comes with a 16 MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro lens, a 2 MP depth sensor and a QVGA.
Since a smartphone's camera performance is not solely based on the Megapixels, it will only be wiser to try out the two devices before singling out which one has a better camera performance.
In front both feature a punch hole display with a single selfie camera with dual LED flash and panorama as well as HDR support.
Battery.
The two sisters still slot the same battery capabilities powered by a non removable 5,000 mAh Li-po battery with 18 W fast charge support.

Conclusion.
The Tecno Spark 6 and Infinix Note 7 are both products of Transsion Holdings, a Smart company with a focus on developing countries.
Both phones have specs that suits any such countries including dual SIM support and bigger batteries as well as big displays.
Their major disadvantages however lies in the low display quality and the poor user interface as a result of bloatware and pop up ads.
But since our major goal here was to compare between the Infinix Note 7 and the Tecno Spark 6, we would go for the Infinix Note 7 which has a slightly bigger screen, a better camera performance and a bigger memory.
