Samsung Galaxy MO2S price in Kenya and Specifications

Samsung have Launched their latest budget smartphone the Samsung Galaxy M02S which is expected to take offer from the Galaxy M01S launched in July 2020.

The phone which was launched in India yesterday 7th January 2021 comes in two variants of 3+32 GB and 4+64 GB is expected with an option to choose between a single or dual SIM.

The 3 + 32 GB M02S has an initial price of RS. 8,999 which is approximately Ksh. 13,409 and the 4 + 32 GB variant is available for RS. 9,999 which is approximately Ksh. 14, 899.

The MO2s has a number of improvements over it's predicessor including a much bigger screen of  6.5 as compared to the 6.2 inch display if the M01S, a triple rear camera made of 13MP primary lens + 2MP macro lens + 2MP depth sensor as well as a much bigger battery of 5,000 mAh over the 4,000 mAh in the predicessor.

Samsung also ditched the Mediatek Helio P22 in the M01S and went for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, a budget Smartphone processor that is already powering a number of budget devices including the Samsung Galaxy A11, S. Galaxy M11, Huawei Honor 7c, Xiaomi 5, Vivo V8s and realme 2 among other Smartphones. 

The Snapdragon 450 features a quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. It is a budget LTE chipset with upto 300 Mbps download speeds and up to 130 Mbps upload speed.

The M02S also features a big 6.5 inch IPS LCD screen with a display resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and 2710 ppi pixel Density. This is the same display quality in many phones at it's price range including the likes of Infinix Hot 10, realme C12, Nokia 2.3 and many more, most of which will battle it out with this new phone for the same market share.

The 5,000 mAh is not the biggest we have seen from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy M51 currently having that title with a 7,000 mAh battery, but is big enough to last you upto 3 days of normal use with a single charge.

The 15W fast charge adapter it comes with will spice up the charging time a little bit but won't be of much significance, considering that many budget Smartphones are now coming with 18W fast charge support.

In the camera department Samsung have added an extra 2MP lens to make it a total of 3 rear cameras maintaining the 13MP primary camera. We will wait to see our the cameras will perform, but I don't think we will see anything out of the ordinary here.

The Galaxy M02S is a budget Smartphone expected to retail at between Ksh. 13,499 and Ksh. 14,999. With it's spec sheet, the M02S will face a stiff Competition from the likes of Realme C12, Infinix Hot smartphones and Tecno Spark phones, most of which are within the same price or even slightly cheaper.

It's strong Competitors will be the Infinix Hot 10 which has a slightly bigger screen, better cameras and a much better Mediatek Helio G70 chipset.
