Xiaomi have Launched their best smartphone ever; the Mi 11 Ultra with a retail price of around Ksh. 153,999 in Kenya. It features some of the best specs expected of a high end flagship smartphone that closely rivals other industry leaders like the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Mi 11 Ultra is nothing but amazing and will give other flagships a hard time in the market.
Right from the design, the display, cameras and performance, the Mi 11 Ultra has everything expected of a top flagship phone and some of it's own first ever specs including the dual displays something other high end phones like the Oppo Find X3 Pro, OnePlus 9 Pro and the Galaxy S21 Ultra can't come close to.
This phone becomes the first non foldable phone to have dual displays made of the normal front display and a secondary display at the back of the phone.
The Primary display is a 6.81 AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate, 1 Billion colors and a QHD resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels as well as a pixel density of 515 ppi. It also has a maximum brightness of 1700 nits, one of the best in the industry.
At the back is a secondary 1.1 inch AMOLED display with 126 x 294 pixels. While this display might look like an overkill, it has one major advantage that other flagships don’t have. It allows you to take selfies using the rear Cameras thus you get high resolution selfies that ordinary front cameras can’t achieve.
Talking of the cameras, the Mi 11 comes with a Triple rear camera setup and a single 20MP selfie camera. The rear cameras are made of a primary 50MP wide lens, a 48MP periscope telephoto and another 48MP Ultrawide lens.
Looking at the above they might look like ordinary camera specs, but the technology behind them will make you marvel at the amount of camera arsenal you will be carrying around with this device.
Let’s start off with the primary rear camera. This is no ordinary 50MP sensor, but the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 launched February this year. The GN2 is the best smartphone photo sensor ever made with a large 1/1.12 inch 1.4um that produces stunning images in all lighting conditions.
In low lighting conditions, the GN2 uses four-in-one binning to achieve 2.8um, just like how a cat’s pupil dilates in low-light to see what we can’t at night. This ensures the lens absorbs more light producing sharper and brighter photos.
The GN2 also supports Dual pixel Pro, the first Samsung sensor to do so. With this the GN2 achieves ultra-first multi-directional auto focusing. We can go on and on taking about this game changing sensor, but something we should not forget to mention is that despite this being a 50MP sensor, it can allow you take 100MP photos.
Next is the 48MP 0.8um periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and the third lens is a 48MP 128° Ultrawide lens. All these Cameras can individually shoot 8K videos with HDR10+.
As expected, the Mi 11 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 888, the best Snapdragon chipset ever already powering a number of flagship phones including the mi 11, Galaxy Ultra, Vivo X60 Pro+ and the OnePlus 9 Pro among others.
The phone has a 5,000 mAh battery with 67W fast charge that can achieve a 100% charge in just 36 minutes. For the first time we also see Xiaomi’s Mi Wireless charge technology that looked several years ahead of it's time when the company teased about it some months ago. The 67W wireless charge can achieve full charge in just 37 minutes.
