Released December last year, the Lenovo K12 Pro is now available in Kenya for Ksh. 18,999. It is a budget phone that banks on the Cameras and the battery as it’s major selling specs.
It features some of the specs expected of a phone at it’s price including a big screen, HD display and a huge battery which are charectaristic of a sub 15K Smartphone.
The Lenovo K12 Pro features a 6.8 inch IPS LCD screen the same size as the Motorola Moto G9 Power, a phone they share a lot of similarities. Despite the big display, it features a HD+ display resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels which is likely to work against this phone as compared to other similarly priced phones like the Redmi Note 8, the Redmi 9 and Oppo F17 among others. The big display and low resolution results in a low pixel density of 263 ppi and honestly we won't recommend such a display quality to any video lover or heavy gamer.
The phone is made of a Glass front, Plastic back and a plastic frame. There is no IP rating but thankfully it has a water-repellent coating and an anti-skid texture that gives your hand a nice grip on the phone.
Being a 2020 phones it ships with Android 10 with no annoying skins, and going by Lenovo's past trends this phone could be entitled to an Android 11 update. It also spots the Snapdragon 662 processor, an 11nm fabricated chipset which was Launched by Qualcomm January 2020 and first featured on the Motorola Moto G9. It has an Octa-core CPU with a top clock-speed of 2.0 GHz the same as the Helio G80 in the Redmi 9.
You can choose between two memory Variants of 4+64 GB or 4+ 128 GB available in two color variants of Electric Violet and metallic sage. If the 64 or 128GB internal storage is not enough you can expand it all the way upto 512 GB via an SD card.
In the camera department the Lenovo K12 Pro has a total of four Cameras, three in the rear and one in front. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 64MP wide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Supported Camera features include LED flash, panorama, HDR and can shoot 1080p videos the same as the 13MP selfie camera.
The phone is powered by a non removable 6,000 mAh battery big enough to last you up to three days with a single charge. It also supports 20W fast charge good enough for a phone at this price. There's also 2.5W reverse charging so you can use it as a power bank to charge other phones and devices.
