The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra currently the best Samsung Android Smartphone witha number of high end flagship features that only few phones can match. It was announced January 14th and as from 22nd the same month the phone was already available for pre-order in Kenya with a price of Ksh. 174,000 for the 12 + 512 GB variant.
Since then the S21 series price in the country have drastically dropped and now the 12 + 128 GB Galaxy S21 Ultra is selling for just Ksh. 124,950 at Jumia Kenya.
At it’s launch many could not help but marvel at the S21 revolutionary design with a unique rear design that set the phone apart from the rest. Beautiful premium design.
The S21 Ultra is a gorgeous beautiful piece that has everything well thought out and every aspect of it's design resonates well with it's premium price that is almost 200k.
Measuring 165.1 x 75.6 x 8.9mm, the Ultra is the biggest of the S21 series, and with a 6.8 inch screen it is at the top edge of bigger phones. However it is still slightly smaller compared to the likes of Asus Rog Phone 3 at 171 x 78 x 9.9mm.
The Ultra has a flat back made out of Gorilla Glass Victus, with a eunique contour cut camera module that makes the S21 series stand out of any other Smartphone out there, just like the way the diamond camera design of the Infinix Zero 8 identifies it out of the crowd.
Just like other S21 phones, the Ultra features a flat back, but has a curved display making it fit comfortably in your palm despite it's size. At the right side of the phone are the volume rockers and the power button, ands at the bottom are the speaker grill, USB-C port and the Sim tray. There are no buttons or ports at the Left side, as the aluminium frame smoothly curves into the camera module.
As noted earlier, the S21 Ultra becomes the first Samsung phone outside the Note series to support the S pen, though it doesn't come with the phone. You will be lucky if you already have an old Note S-pen, otherwise you will have to buy it something that could add to the final overall price of the device. You might also need the casing if you will finally settle for the Spen since it doesn't fit into the phone like in the Note series, but the case has a safe small port that will safely keep the pen.
Display.
The phone features a 6.8 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with HDR10+ and 120hz refresh rate as well as 1500 nits maximum brightness. It features a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels making it one of the best display Smartphones Currently available in the market.
The screen is slightly smaller than that of last year's S20 Ultra by just 0.1 inch, and is exactly the same size as that of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Launched towards the end of last year and seen as one of the strongest Competitors if this phone, another being the iPhone 12 Pro Max which has a 6.7 inch display.

The full screen Infinity O display is slightly curved at the edges eliminating side bezels without compromising on it's usability like in previous curved phones, and the small punch hole at the centre is so small you might not really notice it when using the phon.
Camera performance.
Samsung Electronics have done a good job in pushing the camera hardware and software as far as possible without over doing it, making the cameras one of the main reasons to have this phone.
It's quad-core rear cameras are made of a primary 108MP lens, a dual 10MP telephoto lenses and a 12MP ultrawide lens.
Since it's first debut on the Xiaomi Mi 10, the 108MP has proofed the best Smartphone camera, with good shots full of detail and vibrance. The photos can also be cropped without affecting it's detail, something that can also be an alternative to using telephoto lens.
Samsung telephoto can achieve upto 10x optical zoom, and upto 100x digital zoom, a good advantage of this device over ity close Competitors. The 10x zoom produces very decent photos with detail and even at 30x you still get decent shots.
Samsung have incorporated a number of camera AI algorithms with enhanced subject and distant recognition especially for the macro lens as well as super steady camera performance.
The video resolution is also 8K with a new single take feature that allows you to take still photos simultaneously with video, then later choose your preferred photos. The 8K snap also allows taking of 8K still photos from your recorded videos. There are also lots of camera features to play with including tripod support and Director view among others.
S21 Ultra battery.
This phone has a 5,000 mAh non removable battery that can comfortably last you over a day. Considering that the display and 5G connection but a big strain on the battery, the 5,000 mAh is good enough for such a demanding phone.
The phone supports 25W fast charge, and this is quite low considering that many flagships have over 60E fast charge. It also doesn't come with the charger in the box, and you will have to buy one separately. This was the third phone to come without a charger, other manufactures claiming excluding the charger makes the package box much slimmer.
Conclusion.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is no doubt a true flagship device, with a high quality display, unrivalled camera performance and a premium design that reminds you that this is no ordinary phone.
What I like most about Samsung unlike other brands is that they immediately give us a chance to own their latest flagships immediately they are Globally launched, unlike other brands that take years before they launch their flagship phones in Kenya.
Considering that the S21 Ultra Price within reach, it is a great phone if you can have one.
