Released May last year, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 is now available in Kenya for Ksh. 18,999. It is a budget phone that banks on the display, Cameras and the battery as it’s major selling specs. 

It features some of the specs expected of a phone at it’s price and is seen as the successor to the 2019 Redmi Note 8 which is still one of the best budget Smartphones till date. 

The Redmi Note 9 features a 6.53 inch IPS LCD screen, the same size as the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi 9 and the Redmi 9c. It also comes with a Full HD + display of 1080 x 2340 pixels, the same as the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, making these phones the very few high quality display budget phones. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 48 MP wide lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Supported Camera features include LED flash, panorama and HDR, and can shoot 1080p videos, the same as the 13MP selfie camera.

The phone is powered by a non removable 5,020 mAh battery with 18W fast charge support and 9W reverse charging.

The 4+128 GB Redmi Note 9 is currently retailing at Ksh. 20,499, a good deal considering the Specifications of this phone. 

At this price the Redmi Note 9 competes with the likes of Infinix Note 8, Infinix S5, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 pro and the Tecno Camon 12 Pro. The 6+128 GB Infinix S5 currently retails at Ksh. 18,799, while the Tecno Camon 12 Pro is available at Ksh. 19,000 for the 6+64 GB variant.
