When the realme V15 was launched January 2021, there was no doubt it's target was to rival the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G launched November 2020. This was because the V15 had a number of similar specs as the Redmi Note 9 and was within the same price range, becoming two of the most affordable 5G phones. 
In this post we closely compare the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G with the realme V15 5G Spec-wise so as to give you a detailed comparison of the two 5G Smartphones. Later we look at the pros and cons of one device over the other and their price comparison.

Design.

Both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and realme V15 are highly affordable 5G phones with a number of slight sacrifices in order to bring their prices as low as possible. Both are made of a Glass front and a plastic back, with the Redmi Note 9 having a Gorilla Glass 5 protection in front.  

The Redmi Note 9 measures 162 x 77.3 x 9.2 mm while the V15 measures 160.9 x 74.4 x 8.1 mm. This means that the two phones have almost the same height and width but at 8.1mm thick the Realme V15 is much more slimmer than the Redmi Note 9 5G. The V15 is also much lighter at just 176g compared to the 199g of the Redmi Note 9. 

The back of the phones look very different with the realme V15 having a rectangular camera module and the Note 9 having a circular camera module which is very large and conspicuous. The Redmi Note 9 5G is available in three colors of Grey, Green and violet while the realme V15 is available in either Space Silver or Nebula Blue.

Display.

The Nokia Redmi Note 9 5G has a 6.53 inch IPS LCD display which is slightly bigger than the 6.4 inch in the V15. Both have a Full HD display resolution of 1080x 2300 for the Note 9 and 1080x2400 for the V15. The slightly smaller screen of the V15 results in a slightly higher pixel density of 411 ppi compared to the 395 ppi of the Note 9. 

Cameras.

The two phones  have almost the same camera performance both having a Triple-rear cameras and single selfie cameras. The V15 has a 64MP primary lens, a 8MP Ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens while the Redmi Note 9 has a 48MP primary lens, an 8MP Ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Both phones can shoot 4K videos. In front is a single 16MP selfie camera for the V15 and 13MP for the Note 9. 

Software performance.

Both phones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U, a 7nm fabricated chipset with a top clock-speed of 2.4Ghz

 It also has a number of AI as well as 5G advanced technologies including dual 5G standby. Both also run Android 10 with respective user interfaces.

The Redmi Note 9 is available in four memory variants of 6+128, 8+128, 6+256 and 8+256GB while realme V15 is available in only two memory options of 6+128 and 8+128GB. 

Battery life.

While the Redmi Note 9 5g feaatures a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charge, the realme V15 has a slightly smaller 4,3100 mAh battery but with a much more powerful 50W fast charge which can deliver 100% charge in just 47 minutes.  

So, which one of the two phones should you go for?

Both phones have almost similar specs including the same display quality, the same processor and almost the same camera performance. The decision to lick one over the other will therefore be dependent on one's tastes and preffernce.
