Released October 2020, the Htc desire 20 plus is a mid-range smartphone expected to retail at around Ksh. 32,499 once it becomes available in the country. However considering it’s Specifications the phone will have to drop it’s price considerably upto around Ksh. 22,000 in order to sell otherwise it will have a hard time against a number of mid-range phones already selling in the country including the likes of the recently launched Tecno Camon 17 Pro and Infinix Note 10 Pro.
It features a 6.5 inch IPS LCD panel the same size as that of it’s sister the Htc desire 20 Pro as well as that of the Samsung Galaxy A52. It has a rather low display resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel desnity of 270 ppi. This could be the biggest undoing of this phone considering that many of it’s rivals including the Oppo Reno 4 and the Galaxy A32 have much better display quality.
The phone measures 164.9 x 75.7 x 9 mm making it slightly taller than most of it’s peers and also slightly thicker.
Being a 2020 phone it ships with Android 10 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G a 8nm fabricated chipset that has an Octa-core CPU with a top clock-speed of 2.3 GHz. This is a powerful mid-range gaming chipset that is already powering a number of devices including the Samsung Galaxy A52, the realme 6 pro and the Vivo V20 among other mid-range phones.
Unlike many phones that give you an option to choose between a number of memory variants, Htc desire 20 plus is available in only one memory variant of 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with an option of an external SD card.
The phone is available in three colors of Dawn Orange, Twilight Black and Blue. In the camera department it comes with a total of five Cameras four in the rear and one in front. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 48MP wide lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 5MP depth sensor. It is one of the very few mid range phones with a 5MP depth sensor. Many have a 2MP.
In front is a single 16MP selfie camera which is slightly lower than the 25MP in the desire 20 Pro.
The phone is powered by a non removable 5,000 mAh battery which can last you well over a day with a single charge. It also supports 15W fast charge which is pretty good for a phone at it's price tag.
Htc desire 20 plus Price In Kenya.
The 6+128 GB htc desire is priced at around Ksh. 32,000 but we could see a huge price drop once the phone starts selling in the country. We will also update this post once we get the real price of the phone in the country.
In order to sell the phone will have to battle it out with a number of mid-range phones including the Oppo Reno 4 and Reno 5 series, the Nokia 5.4, Samsung Galaxy A32 and the Tecno Camon 17 as well as Infinix Note 10 series among other great mid-range smartphones. Most of this phones have a Full HD+ display resolution something that is a major plus against the Htc desire 20 plus. However the Snapdragon 720G is one of the strongest selling specs of this phone but there are a number of phones with the same processor but have a much better display.
