The Realme V15 5G is a mid-range smartphone announced and released January 2021 with an expected price of around Ksh. 23,000 once it becomes available in the country. This is a 5G phone and has a number of promising specs expected of a 2021 mid-range smartphone including a big display, lovely design, good cameras, powerful charging system and a powerful processor to match.

It features a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display almost the same as the 6.39 inch in the Vivo V15 Pro.  The display resolution is Full HD+ of 1080 x 2400 pixels which is good enough for a phone at this price tag. Thanks to the compact screen size and Full HD resolution the display has a good pixel density of 411 ppi making this phone good for watching movies and playing games. With 1300 nits maximum brightnesss the phone is good enough to be used in all lighting conditions including directly under the sun.  

Despite being a 2021 phone, the Realme V15 5G ships with Android 10 atop realme UI but it could receive Android 11 update.

Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 800U, a powerful 7nm fabricated chipset with a number of 5G innovations including dual 5G standby. The chipset already powers a number of 5G mid-range devices including the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G, Oppo F19 Pro and the recently launched Vivo V21. 

You can choose between 6 or 8GB RAM both with the same 128GB internal storage and available in two color variants of Space Silver and Nebula Blue.

In the camera department the Realme V15 5G comes with a total of four Cameras three in the rear and one in front. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 64MP wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Supported Camera features include LED flash, panorama and HDR, and can shoot 4K videos. The selfie camera is a single 16MP lens which can also shoot 1080p videos.

The phone is powered by a non removable 4310 mAh battery wich might look rather small for such a powerful phone but thankfully it’s 50W fast charge is one of the best fast charge able to deliver 50% charge in 18 minutes and 100% in just 47 minutes.

The realme V15 5G is available in two memory variants of 6+128 and 8+128GB. The phone is expected to retail at around Ksh. 23,000 once it becomes available in the country becoming one of the most affordable 5G phones. 

Already there are a number of affordable 5G phones in the market including the realme 7 5G and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G but sadly most of these phones are yet to launch in the country.
