Samsung Galaxy A80 Price In Kenya And Full Specifications.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Price In Kenya

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is the most premium of the Samsung Galaxy A series Smartphones available in Kenya at a price of Ksh. 69,999.

Announced April and released May 2019, the Galaxy A80 is the most expensive of the mid-range A series within the price range of the Galaxy S FE editions and the S lite series phones and is still the only Galaxy A80 phone till date.

The high price is largely attributed to it’s revolutionary rotating camera module which results in a notch less display as well as the Glass and metallic body built. It is the only Galaxy A series phone that is made of a Gorilla Glass 6 back. Others are largely made of plastic back in order to bring down their prices as low as possible.

Apart from it’s unique design, the Galaxy A80 has a number of striking features including an almost bezel less display and comes in only one memory variant of 8GB and 128GB with no SD card support. It also doesn’t have the 3.5mm jack port and has no face unlock feature.

The Galaxy A80 features a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED panel exactly the same size as that of the Galaxy A72 and A71.Thanks to the rotating camera mechanism the front of the phone is almost entirely made up of the display with very thin bezels. This ensures zero distraction when using the phone for watching videos or playing games. It has a Full HD+ display resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels almost the same as that of other mid-range Galaxy A series phones. It has a good pixel Density of 393 ppi resulting in a much richer viewing experience as a result of richer and vibrant color rendering. This is a true display for watching videos, playing games or vlogging a key reason that could have inspired the overall design of this phone.

Unlike other Galaxy A phones that are made of plastic backs, the Galaxy A80 is made of a Gorilla Glass 3 display, a Gorilla Glass 6 back and a metallic frame. The extra strength of the back means the phone is more durable at the back than at the front and maybe Samsung should have used Gorilla Glass 6 in front as well. Despite this level of protection, many reviewers have questioned the overall phone’s durability due to the moving camera parts which are more prone to dust, water and damage.

Measuring 165.2 x 76.5 x 9.3mm and weighing 220g, the Galaxy A80 is the biggest and bulkiest of the Galaxy A series and is a phone that will require two handed operations most of the time.

Being a 2019 phone it ships with Android 9.0(pie) atop the One UI 2.0. Thankfully the phone is Android 10 ready. Just like the Galaxy A71 the A80 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, a powerful mid-range processor that is also found in a number of phones including the Oppo Reno 2, Lenovo Z6 and the Xiaomi Redmi K20.

Unlike many Galaxy A phones that have a wide range of memory sizes to choose from, the Galaxy A80 is available in only one memory variant of  8+128GB with no SD card support.  You can choose between Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black.

In the camera department the Galaxy A80 comes with a total of three cameras that function both as rear as well as selfie cameras. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 48MP wide lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens and a TOF 3D sensor.

The performance of the 48MP cameras is quite impressive and it automatically pops up and rotates to be used as the selfie cameras.

The camera performance of this phone is quite good and outperforms many phones at it’s price tag. The Galaxy A80 was one of the first phones to support 4k video recording.

It is powered by a non removable 3,700 mAh battery with 25w fast charge which is much better than the 15w charge in the Galaxy A51.
