Announced December 2020, the Nokia 5.4 Started selling in the US as from February 2021 and now retails at around $249.99. The phone is one of the many sub $2000 and while it has some promising specs it faces a stiff Competition from the likes of Xiaomi and Motorola. a retail 

The Nokia 5.4 is the latest of the Nokia 5 series smartphones, it's predicessor being the Nokia 5.3 announced in March and released April 2020.

The phone is largely seen as an attempt by HMD to bring the highly sought after camera specs of the Nokia 8.3 to as low budget as possible without loosing the already established taste of the Nokia Mid-range Smartphones including the Nokia 3, 4 and 5 series Smartphones. 

It features a 6.39 HD+ punch hole display that closely resembles that of the Nokia 3.2. In fact the phone looks exactly like the 3.2, and would be almost impossible to tell between the two by their looks. It has a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels an a 400 nits maximum brightness. 

Apart from the Plastic back and the plastic frame, the Nokia 5.4 has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection though it's rival the Redmi Note 9 has an impressive Corilla Glass 5 screen something that is also hard to come by at this price. This ensures zero screen scratches and gives your phone the maximum durability that is a preserve of flagship devices.

Being a 2020 phone it ships with Android 10 out of the box though it would have been great if this phone had come with Android 11. The phone has a clean UI thanks to the Android one program which ensures almost zero bloatware as well as timely software and security updates. It also spots the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor, a 11nm fabricated chipset that has an Octa-core CPU with a top clock-speed of 2.0 GHz, the same as the Helio G80 in the Redmi 9.

You can choose between three memory Variants of 4+64 GB, 6+64 or 4+ 128 GB available in two color variants of Dusk and Polar Night. 

In the camera department the Redmi Note 9 comes with a total of five Cameras, four in the rear and one in front. The rear cameras are made up of a primary 48 MP wide lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Supported Camera features include LED flash, panorama and HDR, and can shoot 1080p videos, the same as the 13MP selfie camera.

The phone is powered by a non removable 5,020 mAh battery with 18W fast charge support and 9W reverse charging.

  • Good cameras made up of a quad rear camera setup and a single 16MP selfie Cameras.
  • Android one certified which ensures two major Android updates as well as timely regular security updates. Android one also ensures a clean user interface with no bloatware.
  • Powerful Snapdragon 662 processor which ensures smooth app opening, multitasking and a good gaming experience.
Some of it's downsides are:
  • Low display quality.
  • Plastic body.
Price and competition.
The Nokia 5.4 is now available in US for around $244.99 after it's launch.
The Nokia 5.4 now faces a lot of competition from the likes of Infinix, Tecno, Realme and Xiaomi, with it's major Competitors including the Infinix Zero, Tecno Camon 16 Premier, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s, realme7i and the Samsung A50 among others. 
The biggest advantage that the Galaxy A50 has over it's Competitors including this phone is the high quality display, something that should not be overlooked when choosing between these Smartphones.
