Qualcomm have today announced their most advanced mobile System on cheap so far the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus.
This is a 64-bit 5nm fabricated system-on-chip based on the Arm Cortex-X1 technology expected to power next gen flagship devices begining third quarter of 2021.
Talk of 4K display quality, multicamera photo and video shooting, up to 8k video recording and playback, advanced wireless connections and multisim 5G conncetions as well as Multi-Frame game play, all these are just but a few of the features that this chipset is capable of.
It's prowess however is the 3Ghz clocked Kryo CPU an upgrade from the2.84 GHz of the Snapdragon 888 announced last year and which became a process of choice for all 2021 flagships from almost all major phone brands.
Likewise the new Snapdragon 888 Plus is expected to power a number of high end Smartphones from the third quarter of 2021 with a number of brands showing an interest in featuring this powerful chipset in their upcoming flagships including Honor, Vivo, Xiaomi and Motorola. The Snapdragon 888 Plus will likely feature in the upcoming Honor Magic 3.
Another hint that this could be a processor of choice for Xiaomi's upcoming flagships is the Qualcomm Quick charge 5 technology which can deliver 0-100% charge in less than 15 minutes. This is a big boost to Xiaomi's recently launched 200W fast charge which can deliver 100% charge in just 8 minutes.
Xiaomi could also be working hard to be the first to launch a smartphone with this new chipset after they emerged the first in the race to launch the first 5nm Smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 11 announced on December 28th becoming the World's first Snapdragon 888 smartphone.
5G connectivity is still one of the key features of this processor such like it's predicessor and onboard is Qualcomm's own third gen Snapdragon X605G modem which supports the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), the 5G mm wave as well as the sub-6 GHz frequency band. This makes any phone powered by this chipset Compatible to almost all 5G networks across the Globe as well as support 5G roaming.
The Snapdragon 888 Plus can achieve speeds upto 7.5 Gbps peak download speeds and upto 3.1 Gbps uplink speeds up from 3.0 of the Snapdragon 888. With such speeds, your phone will be an internet powerhouse.
Another notable feature of this new chipset is the 6th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine which can achieve up to 32 TOPS up from 26 TOPS of the Snapdragon 888 resulting in a 20% improved performance.
