Realme GT 5G Vs OnePlus 9 Pro Spec Comparison.

Realme GT Vs OnePlus 9 Pro

The realme GT 5G and the OnePlus 9 Pro are two phone with a number of similarities, bit words apart in terms of price and a couple other specs. The realme GT was announced March this year, and realme were very exited about this phone that many have termed the Ultimate flagship Killer, a term that we have for a while now associated with OnePlus Smartphones. So what changed?

The same month if March, OnePlus announced their most advanced smartphone so far, the OnePlus 9 Pro. And charging by it’s specs we can conclude that this is a true flagship phone with a premium built, high quality display, good cameras and a powerful processor. But at it’s slight over $1,000 asking price there’s no doubt this phone is not for everyone and therefore OnePlus have relinquished their long term earned flagship killer title, a crown that realme are so happy to take it from them.

In this post we compare the realme GT and the OnePlus 9 Pro Spec-wise so as to give you a detailed comparison of the two 5G Smartphones. Later we look at the pros and cons of one device over the other and their price comparison.

Design.
Both the realme GT and OnePlus 9 Pro are very beautiful phones, but that’s where the similarities end as far as the body built is concerned. The OnePlus 9 has a premium built with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 both in front and back and a metallic frame. On it’s part the realme GT has a plastic back with no Gorilla Glass protection, a luxury we will have to let go in order to get a flagship processor phone at almost half the price of it’s Competitors. The OnePlus 9 Pro measures 162.3 x 73.6 x 8.7 mm while the realme GT measures 158.5 x 73.3 x 8.4 mm. This means that the OnePlus 9 Pro is much taller and wider than the realme GT, but is also thicker by around 0.3mm. With the OnePlus 9 Pro weighing 197g it is almost a bulky phone and will most likely call for two handed operations most of the time. On it’s part the realme GT has a weight of 186g making it light and comfortable for one handed operations. The bulkiness in the OnePlus could be largely attributed to the Glass built and metallic frame as well as the camera hardware which is more superior that that of the GT.
Both phones have very big rectangular camera modules at the back and you won’t fail to notice the premium feel of the OnePlus Camera module with a HASSELBLAD logo embedded in the module. While the OnePlus sports four rear lenses, the realme GT has a triple rear camera setup and we will talk more about that’s much later.

Display.
The realme GT has a 6.43 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It supports 120Hz refresh rate and has a pixel desnity of 409 ppi which is pretty good for a phone at this price. On it's part the OnePlus 9 Pro has a 6.7 inch LTPO Fluid 2 AMOLED display with 1440 x 3216 pixels and a pixel Density of 525 ppi as well as HDR10+ and 120Hz refresh rate as well. While the two displays are very good, there’s no doubt that the OnePlus 9 Pro has a justification for it’s premium price.

Cameras.
The two phones have almost the same camera module design, but different performance. The realme GT has a Primary 64MP wide lens, an 8MP Ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens. While the performance of these cameras is as expected of a phone at it’s price, it doesn’t have what it takes to rival those of flagship phones OnePlus 9 Pro included. The OnePlus 9 Pro has a primary 48MP lens, a 8MP telephoto lens, a 50MP Ultrawide wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. What OnePlus did was to collaborate with industry leading camera technologies Sony and HASSELBLAD in order to give you the best camera performance expected of a flagship smartphone, something that is evident at it’s pictures and videos. The OnePlus 9 Pro can also shoot up to 8k videos, but knowing too well that such high-res videos consume a lot of storage and there’s still limited 8k compatible screens realme settled for 4k video recording the GT.

Software performance.
Both phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 procrsso, the chipset of choice for high end 2021 smartphones. They also have the same memory capacities of 8+128GB or 12 + 256 GB. They also feature the Android 11 atop their respective UI and both don’t have SD card Support
So technically speaking we would expect the same performance between these two phones.

Battery life.
The OnePlus 9 Pro and realme GT also have the same battery capacities of 4,500 mAh, enough to last just over a day with a single charge. Both also Support 65W fast charge, and while OnePlus claims theirs can deliver 100% charge in just 29 minutes realme's 65W can do the same in 35 minutes. OnePlus have also included 59W wireless charge which adds to the overall premium feel of the phone.
So, which one of the two phones should you go for?
First look at these facts:
OnePlus 9 Pro has a much more premium display quality with QHD resolution, but both phones have 120Hz refresh rate.
Both phones feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and Android 11 OS.
Both phones have the same memory size s of either 8+128 or 12+256 GB.
Both phones have the same 4,500 mAh battery with the same 65w fast charge but OnePlus is slightly faster.
OnePlus has a much more premium build of Gorilla Glass 5 both front and back as compared to the plastic back of realme.
OnePlus has a price tag of around $1069.99 while realme GT has a price of around $54.
As to which phone you should go over the other we leave that to you, our reader to make that informed decision.
