Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s Price in USA and Specifications

 

Announced March 2020, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S is available in the US for a price between $220 and $259 depending on the memory size and the store you're buying it from.
The redmi note 9s has an impressive spec sheet that a company like Xiaomi can pull through. Some of these include an impressive Display, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a 5020 mAh battery with fast charge support, a gaming optimized Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset among others.

The Redmi Note 9S is one of the three Redmi Note 9 series smartphones that Xiaomi targets to sell in it's major markets including the US, India, parts of Africa, Thailand and Malaysia among other markets including Europe. There will of course be slight variations depending on specific markets. The other two are the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro. While the Pro has almost similar specs with the Note 9s except for the slightly higher camera resolution and much faster charge, the Redmi Note 9 in isn't part looks like a watered-down version of the 9S with the use of Helio G85 Chipset instead of the Snapdragon 720 G found in both Redmi Note 9s and Note 9 Pro.

What I also like about the phone is it's long list of supported 4G networks including band 1, 2,3,4,5,7,8,20,28,38,40.

At the time of publishing this post, the 4+64GB Redmi Note 9s is available at Amazon for $229.50 which is the most affordable price of this device so far. You can also get one at any of your favorite stores across the US.

Design.

The Note 9s is a beutifuly designed smartphone with a nice front and back look.

It measures 165.8 x 76.7 x 8.8 mm making it as slim as the Infinix Note 7 but slightly shorter. 

The front of the phone is almost entirely made of the screen, safe for the thin bezels around it and the punch hole placed at the centre. While many phone manufacturers like placing their punch hole at the top left corner like in the Redmi Note 9, Xiaomi decided to place theirs exactly at the center in this phone just like the one in Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 Series.

The back of the phone is entirely flat with neatly trimmed edges, and the rectangular camera module seats quite pronounced at the top. The phone is quite sturdy and comfortable to hold, and will get used to it pretty fast.

The phone's body is made up of a glass front, plastic frame and a glass back. Many phones at this price range usually come with plastic backs, but what will make this phone stand out of the crowd is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 both in front and back. This will definitely be the cheapest phone so far to have such high end finish.

Display.

The phone has a 6.67 inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, a pixel density of 395 ppi and 20:9 aspect ratio.  It also has  450 nits brightness and has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection which is very impressive for a phone at this price. The only dissapointment here is Xiaomi's decision to go for the IPS LCD panel instead of AMOLED.

Software.

The Redmi Note 9S is powered by the latest Qualcomm mid range gaming processor, the Snapdragon 720G. This makes the Redmi Note 9 among the first smartphones to feature the Chipset, fighting with Realme, a smartphone manufacturer that is first gaining porpularity for it's high end spec phones at affordable prices.

The Snapdragon 720G is highly preferred over many Mediatek Gaming Chipsets including the Helio G85, G80 and the G70.

The phone comes in two Variants, a 4 GB and 6GB RAM models with 64 GB internal storage or 128 GB. If you can manage to get your hands on the 6GB/128 GB one, you will have a smooth smartphone experience with no heating or lagging.

Cameras.

The Redmi Note 9 s sports a quad camera set up made up of a 48 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultra wide lens, a 5 MP macro lens and a 2 MP depth sensor and  can shoot videos of upto 4k resolution.

The selfie camera is a single 16 MP lens which can also shoot videos of 1080p@30/60fps.

Battery.

The phone comes with a non removable 5,020 mAh Li-po battery with 18 W fast charge support. This is another difference between this phone and it's note 9 Pro, the latter having a 30 W fast charge support.
