Nokia 2.4 Vs Nokia 3.4. Spec comparison. What are the similarities and differences between the Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4?
The Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4 were both launched together September 2020 with the sub 15k market as their focus.
Both phones are now available in a number of Key Nokia markets including Kenya with the 3 + 64 GB Nokia 2.4 retailing at Ksh. 12,999 and the 4 + 64 GB Nokia 3.4 retailing at Ksh. 14,999.
Considering the close resemblance in terms of specs and price, it might be somewhat tricky to pick one from the other and that's why in this article we closely compare the Nokia 2.4 vs Nokia 3.4 in order to give you an informed decision when choosing between these two budget Smartphones.
The Nokia 2.4 features a 6.5 inch waterdrop notch with a HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel Density of 270 ppi as well as an aspect ratio of 20:9.
It also features a Dual rear Camera setup of 13MP + 2MP and a single 5MP front camera, both with 1080p video shooting capabilities.
Under the hood is the Mediatek Helio P22, a 12 nm chipset powering a number of mid-range and budget Smartphones including the Infinix S5, Infinix Hot 8, Nokia C5 Endi and Samsung Galaxy A10s among other budget Smartphones.
On it's part, the Nokia 3.4 features a much more trendy 6.39 inch punch hole display with a 720 x 1560 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
It features a Snapdragon 460 chipset with 3 or 4 Gigs of RAM with an option of choosing between 32 and 64 GB of internal storage. The phone is powered by a slightly smaller 4,000 mAh battery with 10W fast Charge and has a triple rear camera setup with a 13 MP primary lens.
Nokia 2.4 vs Nokia 3.4 Design and display comparison.
Putting the two phones side by side, it won't be a problem telling between the two, thanks to the display design. While the Nokia 2.4 features the more traditional waterdrop notch, the Nokia 3.4 spots the more trendy pinch hole display with the punch hole placed at the top left.
However despite the change, the Nokia 2.4 still spots more real estate due to the 20:9 aspect ratio and a much bigger 6.5 inch display.
The Nokia 2.4 measures 165.9 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm whereas the 3.4 measures 161 x 76 x 8.7 mm. This means the 2.4 is slightlyt than the 3.4, though both have the same thickness of 8.7 mm. This is the same thickness as the Nokia and Nokia 2.3, with the much older Nokia 3.2 being slightly slimmer at 8.6mm.
Both have a similar HD + display resolution, with the Nokia 2.4 having 720 x 1600 pixels and Nokia 3.4 having 720 x 1560 pixels. The Nokia 2.4 has a pixel Density of 270 pixels and Nokia 3.4 has 269 pixels. This means apart from the design both phones have the same display quality, the same in most budget smartphones like the Infinix Hot and recent Infinix Note phones including the Note 7 and Note 8.
The back of the phones also look quite different, despite both made of Embossed plastic. While the dual cameras in the Nokia 2.4 are arranged in a vertical module at the centre of the phone, the Nokia 3.4 has a triple rear Cameras housed in a circular module which resonates with more recent Nokia Smartphones including the Nokia5.3 and the recently launched Nokia 5.4.
Both phones have a rear placed fingerprint scanner, and while they might not be the fastest in the market they still get the job well done. You can also opt for the face unclock if that's your thing.
The Google Assistant button which we first saw in the Nokia 4.2 is still prominent in both phones, the button coming slightly below the Sim tray at the Left side.
Both phones are Dual SIM with a dedicated SD card slot all housed on the SIM tray. The power and volume buttons are all placed at the right hand side of the phones with the 3.5 mm jack placed at the top left.
However a major difference between the two phones is on the USB ports. While the Nokia 2.4 spots the old Micro-USB port, the Nokia 3.4 features the recent USB type-C 2.0 port which is now a must have in any Smartphone as it allows you connect your phone to multiple electronic devices.
Software Performance.
The Nokia 2.4 is powered by the Mediatek Helio P22, while the Nokia 3.4 features a Snapdragon 460 chipset. While the Snapdragon 460 is more recent and has an 11nm architecture as compared to the older 12nm Helio P22, I don't see much difference between the two processors, and upto now no one has openly clarified which one of the two is better than the other.
Considering that Mediatek tend to perform much better than other chipsets when it comes to budget devices, it might not be a surprise that some reviewers pick the 2.4 over the 3.4.
But a much bigger advantage of the 3.4 over the 2.4 is in memory. While the Nokia 2.4 comes with either 2 or 3 GB RAM and 32 or 64 GB internal storage, the Nokia 3.4 spots either 3 or 4GB RAM and same 32 or 64 GB internal storage with an option to expand it using an external SD card in both phones. Of significance here is the 4GB RAM on the Nokia 3.4, which aids in multitasking and heavy task handling. That's why the 3.4 handles gaming slightly much better than the 2.4.
Both phones are Android one certified, ensuring a clean user interface with no bloatware and no annoying pop up ads. Both spot Android 10 bit are Android 11 ready, meaning the phones can run on the latest possible version of Android with a 2 and 3 year regular software and security updates.
This is a major advantage of many Nokia phones over it's competitors, wit the likes of Infinix and Tecno often accused for their heavy bloated OS skins that come with tones of preloaded apps that can't be removed and pop up ads that always ruins the user experience.
Cameras And battery performance.
While the Nokia 4.2 spots a dual rear camera setup, the Nokia 3.4 spots a triple rear camera arrangement. The 2.4 comes with a primary 13MP lens and a 2Mp depth sensor, the same as in the 3.4. The difference is the extra 5MP ultrawide y in the 3.4, and while it might not have clear photos as the primary 13MP lens, it gives you an option to play with the camera field of view.
Both phones can shoot 1080p videos both in front and back, with the 3.4 having slightly more in-app camera functions than the 2.4 including continues shooting mode.
The Nokia 2.4 spots a 4,500 mAh non removable battery, while the Nokia 3.4 comes with a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 10W fast charge. However in real life use scenarios you might not notice much difference, and Nokia have always been not so generous with their battery capacities or fast charging technologies.
The charging adapter that accompanies the Nokia 3.4 is not a fast charger, and the 10W might not be of any significance unless you have your own fast charger.
Nokia 2.4 Vs Nokia 3.4 spec summary.
Conclusion.
The Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4 are closely rated smartphones, both having almost a similar spec list except for some slight difference here and there.
While the Nokia 2.4 has a much bigger display, both phones have the same display resolution and quality. However the slight advantage that the Nokia 3.4 has over the Nokia 2.3 is the slightly bigger 4GB RAM, which makes sense if you go for this particular Variant.
