Released may 2020, realme Nazro 10 is a budget phone with a retail price of Ksh. 18,499 in Kenya.
It features a 6.5 inch IPS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution, the same display quality with a number of phones at it's price range including the Infinix Note 8 and Note 7.
It also spots a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charge and a Quad rear camera setup with a 48MP primary camera.
Realme Nazro 10 Pros and cons:
- The Phone has a sizable 6.5 inch display that's big enough for watching videos and playing games. The display also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
- The Mediatek Helio G80 is a food processor for a phone at this price, and is the same processor in a number of similarly priced phones like the Infinix Note 8, realme 6i and the Xiaomi Note 9.
- The realme Nazro 10 has enough memory size made of 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There's also an option to expand it using an external SD card, but will have to give up a secondary Sim for the memory card.
- The phone comes with a sizable 5,000 mAh Battery with 18W fast charge. The advantage here is that the phone uses the USB-C port instead of the older MicroUSB port. It also supports reverse charging.
- The slight downsides of this phone include the low quality display resolution as well as a high price for a phone with such similar specs.
Design.
Despite being a budget phone, realme Nazro 10 is a beutifuly designed phone, having almost the same design as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 which happens to be one of it’s closest rivals. It is available in only one memory variant of 4 +128 GB and can choose between two colors of That Green and That White.
It measures 164.4 x 75.4 x 9mm, standing taller than most budget phones and is almost the same size as the Samsung Galaxy A12. It’s weight of 200g is within the acceptable range and doesn’t feel too light or too heavy on your hand. The slightly curved back edges allows the phone to comfortably fit in your palm and is not slippery.
The front of the phone is largely made of the display with a minidrop notch that is so small it’s almost unnoticeable. The side bezels are also relatively thin except for a slight chin at the bottom. This results to an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 89.8%.
The matte finish and the unique textured back gives this phone a rather different feel than what we’re mostly used to, and the plastic back is slightly prone to fingerprint smudges.
The camera module is almost characteristic of all realme phones, with a vertical camera arrangement at the top left of the phone’s back. The Quad-rear Cameras consists of a primary 48MP lens, a 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and another 2MP depth Sensor. The slight disadvantage is that the module slightly protrudes this giving the phone a slight wobble when placed on a flat surface. This is also the same problem with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8.
The fingerprint sensor is also placed at the back, almost at the centre top. The scanner works just fine, and if you won’t like it then you can also try the inbuilt face unlock.
Like many other realme phones in kidding the realme C3, the volume rockers are placed at the Left side of the phone together with the hybrid Dual Sim port. It might take a while to get used to Considering we're used to the volume buttons at the right side, which in this case is only the power button.
There are no buttons at the top edge of the phone just like in many Tecno phones, and at the bottom are the speaker grill, the mic, the USB-C port and the 3.5mm jack Port.
Display.
The realme Nazro 10 features a 6.5 inch IPS LCD screen with a HD+ display resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Though the screen size is quite sizable, the low display resolution is one of the many reasons I would prefer the Redmi Note 8 which has a much better display of 1080P resolution.
Performance.
The Nazro 10 is powered by the Mediatek Helio G80, a budget chipset that has a top-clock speed of 2.0 GHz. The processor has an impressive performance, though I would prefer the Helio G90T which has a much better performance.
While the Helio G80 can handle multitasking and light gaming, it struggles when subjected to heavy tasks and can’t handle high frame gaming, a reminder that this is still a budget chipset. The 4GB RAM on this phone is also a plus, but it can only be as useful as the processor.
The phone ships with Android 10 atop realme UI, and thus comes with a number of pre-installed apps that can’t be uninstalled. This is almost the same with all Chinese phones, and the buyers have to finally pay for their cheaper phone prices in the name of ads that come with these pre-installed apps.
Cameras.
The realme Nazro 10 has a total of five Cameras, four at the back and one in front. The rear Cameras are made up of a primary 48MP sensor, a 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor.
Surprisingly enough the primary camera produces very decent photos that can compare to those of the recently launched Vivo X60. The pictures are detailed and full of color, both indoors and outdoors. The wide angle lens are give impressive results though you will notice slight lack of detail as compared to those taken by the primary lens.
While the cameras produces good pictures in well light conditions, the low light performance is not that good, a major challenge faced by similarly priced phones.
The macro lens also produces decent portrait photos separating the subject from the background.
Battery.
This phone is powered by a non removable 5,000 mAh Li-po battery with 18W fast charge support. The street can last upto 39 hours standby, and can last upto two days with normal use.
Unlike many brands that don’t include compatible fast chargers with their phones, realme included the 18W fast charger in the packaging of this phone, though it still takes upto one and a half hours to fully charge this phone upto 100%.
Conclusion.
The realme 10 Nazro is a promising budget phone that is well designed with a sizeable display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a big battery that has 18W fast charge and a big memory of 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
At Ksh. 18,499, the phone finds itself in a difficult spot, with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 offering much more decent specs for the same price. The Infinix Hot 10 also has almost the same performance as this phone, despite being almost 5K cheaper.
