The Vivo X60 Pro is one of the three Vivo flagship smartphones launched March this year with a retail price of around £1070 for the 12+256GB storage variant.
The X60 Pro is the successor to last year’s Vivo X50 Pro, both phones having a number of similarities including the same screen size, same display resolution and almost the same design.
However the Vivo X60 Pro has a number of improvements from it’s predecessor including a 120HZ dynamic refresh rate and a much more powerful Snapdragon 870 5G processor.
The X60 Pro was announced March 22nd this year together with it’s sibling the X60. The other one is the Vivo X60Pro+ which was announced January this year. While all the three phones have the same display quality, the Pro+ version has some beefed up specs including the famous Snapdragon 888 which is currently the best Qualcomm chipset ever built and first featured in the Xiaomi Mi 11 announced December last year. On the other hand the X60 is seen as the little sibling but with the same processor and display as the X60 Pro you might not notice much difference between the two.
Vivo X60 Pro Price In UK.
The Vivo X60 Pro is currently priced at 1070. There might be slight price difference from store to another but will likely be within the 1,000 mark
The phone will battle it out with a number of top mid-range and flagship devices from a number of brands including Samsung Galaxy S20 Series, Xiaomi Mi 11 and so much more.
Vivo X60 Pro Specifications.
Vivo X60 Display.
The X60 Pro features a 6.56 inch AMOLED panel, the same size as other X60 and X50 Vivo phones. The resolution is also the same Full HD+ of 1080 x 2376 pixels, and this could be one of the reason this phone is much cheaper than flagships from other manufactures.
Apart from that the display has a 120 Hz refresh rate that can also be set to dynamic mode between 60hz and 120hz. It also features 240Hz touch sampling rate, and together with the refresh rate you will love how the phone magically responds to touch commands and is much more responsive to high speed gaming.
Cameras.
After realizing that the cameras were one of the key smartphone selling spec, many phone manufactures rushed to add a number of lenses on their phones with a large jargon that looked more confusing to buyers, and it was made to look like the one with many lenses the better, something which absolutely not true.
The camera performance of any smartphone is not determined by the number of lenses, either triple, quad or Penta, or solely by the megapixel size of each individual. In a smartphone it is about the quality of the hardware especially the lenses, as well as the Software.
That is why though the Vivo X60 has only three rear Cameras with the primary lens having just 48MP, you will be amazed by it’s results and will have to rethink the whole issue of smartphone photography.
In order to demonstrate how series they are about giving you unrivalled photography experienced, Vivo partnered with some of the very best players in the photography industry including Zeiss Optics.
The 48MP primary camera is a 26mm wide angle Sony IMX598 sensor with Gimbal 2.0 Stabilization which has both vertical and horizontal camera stabilization. A gimbal stabilizer is usually a hand held smartphone stabilizer that allows you take pictures or videos on your smartphone without shaking resulting in more natural and vivid pictures eliminating noise and blurriness. The inbuilt gimbal stabilizer therefore does a much better job than the hand held one and also eliminates the extra cost and the inconvenience that comes with an external one.
Supporting the primary camera is a 13MP, f/2.5, 50mm portrait lens that has 2x optical zoom and a 13MP 120° Ultrawide lens.
The cameras are Zeiss Optics branded, have pixel shift support as well as the gimbal stabilizer we just talked about above, among other in-app camera features.
The pictures taken by this phone are quite good and rival those of any high-end flagship smartphone. The pictures are clean, crisp with detail and full of color and are of studio-quality.
It’s key highlight however is how it performs in low light conditions, something that many phones still struggle with despite various attempts. The Vivo X60 Pro produces excellent low light photos and am sure you will concur with me once you try it out.
The 32MP front camera is another excellent performer and you will lib how your smile looks like in your social media handles.
The cameras can also shoot 4K videos, the Gimbal Stabilization and HDR playing a critical role here to ensure you have high quality videos.
The Vivo X60 is therefore a true testimony that with the right camera hardware and software you can get excellent results without overstretching on the hardware like some brands do.
Battery performance.
The phone is powered by a non removable 4,200 Li-po battery that seems a little small for such a powerful phone. Vivo have always maintained a rather small battery capacity in order to keep their flagships as slim as possible, and the demanding display and the processor in this phone will always drain this battery much faster than other flagships. Knowing that such amount won’t likely last over a day with a single charge, Vivo added a 33W fast charger that can give you 50% in just 25 minutes.
Conclusion.
The Vivo X60Pro is a true example of the results of carefully balanced phone specs in order to achieve a flagship experience at an affordable.
At £ 1,000 the X60 Pro is one of the most affordable flagship phones and would go for it against other highly priced phones.
